Ask Your Senators to Support the POWER+ Plan
Appalachia’s coal-bearing counties would directly benefit from the adoption of the POWER+ plan, a proposal in the Obama administration’s 2016 budget that would direct more than a billion dollars to Central Appalachia.
By investing in sustainable economies and Appalachia’s future, the POWER+ plan would reduce the need for communities to turn to rely on coal and practices like mountaintop removal for economic stability.
But a version of the federal budget passed through a House subcommittee seriously stripped down key components spelled out in the POWER+ Plan. And the Senate subcommittee’s spending bill leaves out POWER+ altogether.
That means that Appalachia is being left out of billions of dollars that would directly benefit our communities and local economies.
Please contact your Senators now to make sure they support a budget that includes a path forward for Appalachia.
