Protect Appalachia from Toxic Selenium Pollution!
Kentucky regulators are trying to weaken a state law in a way that would let mountaintop removal coal mining companies discharge more toxic pollution into Kentucky’s waters.
Fortunately, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency can stop them.
In fish, selenium toxicity can result in deformities and reproductive failure. People can be exposed to selenium through the water they drink and the fish they eat. Long-term exposure can damage the liver, kidneys, nervous system and circulatory system.
Take Action Now! Tell the EPA to reject Kentucky’s proposal to weaken selenium standards!
