  1. Mary Kahn Says:

I feel for the residents of Wise County who are looking to the new coal plant for jobs. Nonetheless, they are the trustees of a national treasure in the beautiful vistas, the clear skies and the clean water of the Appalachian Mountains. These mountains are no less beautiful or important to us than those in Yellowstone and Yosemite. They are far more valuable than the coal that lies beneath them. We must find a way to market Appalachia’s true value and bring jobs, far better than coal mining, to the area.
