Tell Congress to Focus on What Matters — Stopping Mountaintop Removal Today
Tuesday, October 29th, 2013
We need to bring focus back to what matters. With all the confusion and conflict in Congress, we need now — more than ever — to speak with a clear, unified voice to demand an end to mountaintop removal.
Already this year, citizens from throughout the region have met with over 150 Congressional offices to discuss the impacts of mountaintop removal coal mining on water quality and community health in Appalachia.
We know that if members of Congress are going to take a stand against mountaintop removal, they need to hear from all of us — they need to hear from you.
That’s why we’re asking you and nearly 60,000 other members of iLoveMountains.org to contact your Representative in Congress to ask them to cosponsor the Clean Water Protection Act.
The Clean Water Protection Act is a bill in the U.S. House of Representatives which will sharply reduce mountaintop removal coal mining by ending valley fills and protecting our headwater streams. To date, over 2,000 miles of streams have been buried and polluted by this devastating practice. But together we can stop it.
