Help the People in this Community Stop the Destruction
Sunday, October 14th, 2007
HELP SPREAD THE WORD — Join thousands who are standing up against the destruction of Appalachian mountains and communities and who are helping to spread awareness of the other inconvenient truth about coal: mountaintop removal.
THEY’RE BLOWING UP OUR MOUNTAINS AND THERE OUGHT TO BE A LAW! Ask your representative to support the Clean Water Protection Act – a bill that would curtail mountaintop removal and protect clean water for millions of Americans.
TELL YOUR ELECTRICITY PROVIDER — “NOT IN MY NAME!” — Click on this link, submit your zip code and choose “Take Action” where you can print out a letter – tailored to your own electricity provider – asking them not to do business with companies engaged in mountaintop removal strip mining.
DONATE WHERE IT’S NEEDED MOST — The most immediate way to help the people fighting to save their homes and mountains near Lost Mountain is to support Kentuckians for the Commonwealth. KFTC works with people to organize in their home communities across Kentucky, helping everyday community members become extraordinary community leaders. Click here to donate to KFTC. |

I understand that there are 200 applications for mountain top removal for coal mining . How many of my elected representatives in congress support this . I will let them know of my opposition.

Let’s find an alternative. I want to perserve Appalachia and its resources and help those living there to have a better life.
Where can I find T-shirts supporting the cause?

I am a painter. I have some time in August. I would like to paint some landscapes that would show the visual tragedy of this process. Please let me know if someone can help me find a good vantage point to paint from? Please contact me at my email address or at info@sustainableshepherdstown.org. I will read it.
Thank you.

Coal has feed, clothed and put a roof over my family for many years. This has been a job that has been past down for many genergations. If you dont agree with the stripping of coal…turn your lights off!!!!!!
