A New Face, A New Opportunity to End Mountaintop Removal
Welcome Interior Secretary Sally Jewell and tell her to make the protection of Appalachian streams a top priority.
This week, Sally Jewell became the Obama Administration’s Secretary of the Department of the Interior. Jewell is now in a key position to halt the damaging environmental and health effects of mountaintop removal coal mining.
The day before her confirmation, President Obama said that Jewell had an “appreciation for our nation’s tradition of protecting our public lands and heritage, and a keen understanding of what it means to be good stewards of our natural resources.”
In order to make sure that protecting Appalachia’s waterways from mountaintop removal is a top priority, she needs to hear from you today.
