THREAT TO VIRGINIA’S MOUNTAINS – PLEASE ACT TODAY
In response to the EPA’s crackdown on the worst impacts of mountaintop removal, the coal industry is promoting a Virginia bill designed to prevent effective enforcement of the law. This bill would tie the state’s hands by limiting the authority of the Water Pollution Control Board and other regulatory bodies to even consider water toxicity testing or water quality monitoring in determining whether a discharge could cause violation of water quality standards.
The bill would make it impossible for the state to enforce the EPA’s water quality standards. Please take the time to ask your state senator to oppose SB 1025. A vote could happen as early as MONDAY the 31st. They need to hear from you today!
Please CALL your senator and then SEND your senator an e-mail.
