The Clean Water Act will be 40 years in existence next year and not one state fully implements the minimum public health and environmental protections.

I live in WI that has traditionally led the way in implementation. Our current government is trying to roll back every protection they can. The EPA, acting on behalf of the American public, is the only protection we have for our precious water.

We must end the exemption of hydro-fracking from the CWA immediately. Polluting groundwater with toxic chemicals can’t be cleaned up. The majority of states have some degree of water shortage, some severe. We can’t squander the rights of future generations for some corporation to make a quick, carbon heavy buck.

Protecting water quality is the most cost effective public investment ever made. Do the proponents of HR2018 remember cholera and typhoid?
