MY DAD DIED IN THE MINES AT ESKDALE AND IS BURIED NEAR KAYFORD. WHAT WAS LEFT OF FAMILY DEPARTED W.VA AND MOVED TO OHIO IN 1950. I HAVE A LOT OF RELATIVES BURIED THERE. I AM GOING BACK THIS 4TH OF JULY 2013 TO LOOK FOR BURIEL SITES OF FAMILY. I AM SAD AT WHAT HAS HAPPENED ON CABIN CREEK. WHAT HAPPENS NOW THAT OBAMA HAS A WAR ON COAL AS THAT HAS CABIN CREEKS WAY OF LIFE LEAVING. GOD IS IN CONTROL TO ITS DESTINY. I CONSIDER ALL FOLKS ON CABIN CREEK RELATIVES.

It is not going to be to long before all of Cabin Creek is going to be gone and I planed on living in Cabin Creek for ever and I wanted my children to grow up in Cabin Creek.

My mother’s family all lived up Cabin Creek, and I often fear that the remains of many of our deceased relatives (namely in the Carbon Cemetery) will be “lost.” It’s sad from a historical perspective as well. My ancestors used Kayford Mountain as a route when they journeyed from White Oak, Boone Co., and settled up Cabin Creek. That route is now gone…
